Investing in a Kitchen Designer
Dear Expert: How much should I expect to pay for the services of a Kitchen Designer?
A. You are wise to work with a professional specifically trained in kitchen design. There is not a set fee for the services of kitchen and bath designers. Services and fees charged by these designers vary. Some designers may charge a consultation fee to discuss the project, then adjust to an hourly fee or flat fee as the project progresses. Other designers include the original consultation fee as a down payment for the total project. Some designers offer free design services if you purchase the product and/or labor from their firm. If you plan on purchasing the products yourself and providing the labor, expect to pay a fee for the consultation services of a professional kitchen designer. As you talk with the NKBA designers in your area, ask about their consultation services and fees up front so you can make an informed decision.

I would like to know the code measurements we should have with placing a granite countertop around a jennaire electric stove top in an island area? We don't have seating around this island and it is now 80 1/2 inches long and 27 inches wide, with 21 inches of coutertop on right side of stove top and abut 28 inches of left side of stove top. However, we only have 2-3 inches of countertop at bottom and top of stove. Is this sufficient?
Thank you.
