New Definition of Quality
Dear Expert: Will an interior designer ensure I get the best value when designing my home?
A: Not long ago homeowners simply replaced an item if they no longer enjoyed their original purchase. We were living in disposable times. But in today’s world, that perception has changed—for the better. Homeowners recognize paying more for an item that lasts longer is a better value. This is where interior designers (and other design professionals) come in. They collaborate with you to develop a long-term plan for your home that fits your budget, provides the environment you’ve dreamed of, and helps you make smart decisions. Together you will select well-built, aesthetically pleasing items that are functional, fashionable and fabulous, now and for years to come.

Absolutely! You, and your designer, can set project goals and specifications together and then review those goals periodically throughout the project implementation. Watching for places to enhance quality, increase sustainability and save costs are hallmarks of a great design firm. Adding value to every project depends on the scope and the outcome determined by the design. Other added value factors could be level of experience, unique resources and craftsmanship. Ask your designer for examples of perceived and built-in value on your next project.
