June 9, 2009New MN Docomomo Chapter Launching Thurs
A new Minnesota chapter of Docomomo, an international organization dedicated to documenting and preserving architecture from the mid-century modern movement, is launching this Thursday at Design Within Reach in Minneapolis. So often, the informal dining area of houses I've toured look to be such afterthoughts—shoved to the side of the kitchen, or confined to barstools at a tall island. But this family, in the Kenwood neighborhood of Minneapolis, got something different and unique. While revamping and remodeling the family's kitchen, 
I know exactly where I’d add a fireplace in my house: the eastern wall of my bedroom. No matter how many times I’ve wished for a fireplace, however, the wall is still blank. Lynda and Steve Meland from Plymouth have had better luck.
