Scando Style from Sina Pearson

Made from irregular slub cotton yards or heavy linen with a polished satin weave, the just-introduced "Scandinavia 101" upholstery collection from Sina Pearson Textiles evokes the designers extensive travels in ice country, her own snapshots of Sweden dotted with iron ore red, gold, soft blue, and gray colors, and her private collection of vegetable-dyed yarns and folk textiles. I got a big package of samples of this collection in the mail, and was particularly fond of the double-rubbed "Comfort" pattern, which runs $134 per yard, that would look positively romantic in a charcoal hue. Other patterns range from $138 to $186 per yard, available through Dwelling Designs, near 50th and France.

For Scandinavian textiles closer to home, don't forget about Custom Woven Interiors at the Northrup King Building, where trained-in-Sweden artisan Kelly Marshall makes luminous upholstery fabric, pillow covers, tablerunners, and more.
