First Monday at the Commodore—We Were There!
Last night, Midwest Home editor in chief Chris Lee and I followed our own advice and attended the First Monday event at the Commodore, hosted by DeeDee Phillips and made possible by a throng of jewelry makers, vintage dealers, visual artists, potters, and even high-end cheese-makers. We chatted it up a bit with Heinz Brummel, one of my favorite local jewelry makers, tried on a few fashionable vintage hats (including one feathered Christian Dior stunner from the 1940s), and perused some lovely handmade Christmas stockings by an artist named Lida Nafranowicz. Chris picked up a silvery bracelet that's just her style; even Bonnie Blodgett, the long-time Midwest Home contributor and expert garden writer, couldn't resist buying herself a ring. And the amazing part was, it was packed—even with all the football hoopla in Minneapolis. I guess some people just have their priorities straight: shopping first!
Find us at the next First Monday, at the historic Commodore Hotel, on Monday, November 2!
