FYI: Ray Eames is a Woman

Tomorrow night’s Third Thursday at the MIA (that’s Minneapolis Institute of Arts to you newbies) is going to be crawling with design hipsters throwing back vodka gimlets. You should absolutely join the fun. This month’s music-and-open-museum soiree (yes, it’s free!) will feature the swingin’ sounds of the Mike Cramer Quartet, and the short films of Charles and Ray Eames. I got the chance to see one of the Eames’s films—Powers of 10—at the Walker awhile back, and it reminded me of vintage high school science films on the “cosmos” narrated by Carl Sagan. But don’t tell the hipsters I said that.
