Rosedale Arrives

Growing up in a St. Paul suburb, I shopped at Rosedale Center. Back then, the only draw was Dayton's and the Gap, and eastsiders like me would have to trek to Southdale or Ridgedale for great shopping. Now, Rosedale houses some of my favorite national retailers: Coach, Sephora, Lucy, Williams-Sonoma, and beginning tomorrow—J.Crew.  This is my go-to for dresses, cashmere sweaters, statement jewerly, Italian-leather flats, casual tees and tanks, and classic suiting.  If you're new to the brand, or haven't shopped it yet this season, I've culled some of my favorite fall looks below.

J.Crew at Rosedale will carry the men’s and women’s... Read more »

Style in the Cities

It's a busy couple of weeks for shopping and style in the Twin Cities!

REBEL TRUNK SHOW
On Thursday, STYLEDLIFE is hosting a Rebel handbags and jewelry trunk show. Gina Riley, the founder of this edgy NYC-based brand will be in town to show her designs. Although Rebel has been around for more than 10 years, I was new to this line. It's clean, modern, and incredibly well-made. The Italian leather bags and clutches, for example, have a minimalist quality to them that is really appealing among all the monogram and sussed-out styles out there.

Aveda's Beauty Movement

This weekend Aveda hosted its annual Congress event in Minneapolis. 5,000 stylists and artists from around the globe turn out for creative performances, trend workshops, and educational seminars. I seized the rare opportunity to chat wtih Aveda's Global Creative Director, Antoinette Beenders, about beauty trends for fall/winter and what Aveda has up its sleeve. Read more »

Junk Happens

Try as I might, I am not a crafty person. My ability to create something from nothing is limited to the cross-stitching Christmas ornaments (which I haven't done since I was 10) and the paint-penning cups for sorority events (I am rather good at bubble letters).  Perhaps my lack of artistry makes me all the more enamored of those who can actually implement their ideas. You know the type: They can reupholster a chair they picked up from the side of the road, or turn an old apron into a chic handbag. Whatever.

Since I haven't completely given up on myself, however, I love to troll vintage stores like Hunt & Gather for things that one fine, fine day I will know exactly how to magically turn into... Read more »
