Award Winning Designs and Ideas
EARLIER THIS YEAR, a number of Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association (MNLA) members were honored with 2011 MNLA Landscape Awards for excellence in landscape design, installation, and management.
A panel of professionals in landscape education, landscape architecture, and horticulture evaluate and select the projects to receive a Grand Honor Award or a Merit Award. A Grand Honor Award is the highest level of recognition awarded for outstanding values; photos of the Grand Honor Award-winning projects appear on the following pages. Projects that demonstrate good values earn Merit Awards; photos of the 2011 Merit Award-winning projects are below.

This year, MNLA and Midwest Home partnered to create two new categories: “Designer in Bloom” and “Budding Talent.” Douglas Owens-Pike of Energyscapes Inc. was selected as the recipient of the “Designer in Bloom” award, and Jack Dorcey of Landscape Design Studios, LLC was selected as this year’s “Budding Talent.” For a more detailed look at these award winners and their work, don’t miss the June/July issue of Midwest Home magazine.
