French Fairytale
A house built for two is designed to host many
The empty-nester couple that owns this French-style manor in Wayzata had a specific request for builder David Bieker, owner of Denali Custom Homes, Inc. “They wanted one-level living, but also a house that would be a gathering place for their extended family,” he says. This finished 8,000-square-foot home meets their needs to a T.
On the spacious main level, the great room, kitchen, casual eating area, and formal dining room are the perfect venues for holiday celebrations and entertaining groups, both large and small. The extravagant owners’ suite, almost a wing unto itself, flows from the bedchamber’s window-surrounded nook overlooking the backyard pool to the seating area around the fireplace, through the bath and dressing room to a handy laundry area.
Bieker also created a wonderful home-away-from-home for the owners’ extended family. The lower level’s two guest suites, bar/kitchen, two-level theater with seating for eight, and family, billiards, exercise, laundry, and pool-changing rooms will undoubtedly get a good workout from the homeowners’ grown kids and seven grandchildren. The L-shaped backyard pool, outdoor kitchen, and ledge-stone fireplace guarantee this home will be a summertime paradise for the young and young at heart. —C.L.
