This family of eight, with six kids ranging in age from 6 to 16, needed a home that would give them lots of room to play, study, and be together. This 12,366-square-foot classic red brick home by L. Cramer Designers & Builders provides all the requisite spaces; seven bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, and lots of smart extras: laundry facilities on all three levels; an executive-sized desk for running a busy household near the kitchen; separate main-floor powder baths (one for kids with grubby hands, another for formal guests); a kids’ study room; and an upper-level family room where the whole crew can gather before bedtime.

The house is both family friendly and formal. Marble covers the kitchen, several bathrooms, and even the laundry room; pantry shelves are made of custom-cut solid wood. Other luxurious touches include arched wall niches, ogee-edged countertops, and 8.5-inch baseboards.

The house itself sits on a 1.3-acre lot in Medina’s acclaimed Wild Meadows development edged by restored wet meadows, a 50-acre maple and basswood forest, and more than 200 acres of prairie plants and grasses. Inspired by the award-winning Prairie Crossing development outside of Chicago, the Wild Meadows site guarantees this family of eight won’t just be living in beauty, but surrounded by it.
