This stretch of Medina could almost be Cape Cod, where a Nantucket-style farmhouse unassumingly blends in with its surrounding environment. “There is a simplicity in that style of architecture,” explains Tom Rauscher, a member of the design firm that helped create this East Coast–influenced home, along with Wooddale Builders.
The home is as unique on the inside as it is on the outside, with curves and angles everywhere, including the walls and baseboards. Arches can be found in the fireplaces, windows, and doorways, including a large arced entry to the master suite. Arches and cabinetry keep the rooms flowing and open, while simultaneously creating a clear division between spaces.
The hearthside “morning room”—complete with a fireplace—is perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee or a mimosa while reading the paper or watching backyard wildlife from the expansive picture-window. The home also accommodates grilling on the wraparound porch and studying in the stately library, which features 12-foot vaulted ceilings and beams. The sunny lower level is a pleasant space for entertaining friends and family—for watching movies on the plasma TV, warming up in front of the two-sided fireplace, or having a cocktail at the cherry wood bar. Mix yourself a Cape Codder, and you’ll swear you can almost hear waves lapping at the coast.
