This lower level renovation grew from a family desiring a place to entertain and have a cozy atmosphere where they could share time together. Unfinished and unused, the lower level lacked light and warmth.

Casual comforts include a tavern, built-in wine grotto, and a floor-to-ceiling entertainment center. The space incorporates distinctive materials and colors, from stacked and staggered stone in the wine grotto, tavern wall, and stair columns to the warm, rich tones of cherry wood in the bar soffit and entertainment center. “Overall, this family’s goals were surpassed,” Freudenthal says, “and this lower level addition added some incredible living and entertaining space to this home.”
