The owners of this 1960s New Brighton home purchased it for its unique vaulted original wood ceilings. But it was otherwise a typical ranch home with a nondescript exterior, except for an obvious, 30-year-old flat-roofed rear living room addition. Despite an early 1990s kitchen and master suite remodel, the home left plenty to be desired.

The transformation began with small additions to the living room, garage, and front entry, and removal of the flat roof. A bonus room was added above the garage. New scissor roof trusses created vaulted ceilings in the old addition and a loft space over an existing bedroom. “The new ceilings create some very interesting lines, as well as the new loft space, which is every kid’s dream,” says Wooden Dreams Vice President Howard Theis, who worked with Lisa Keller of Keller Interior Design on this project.
In addition, the kitchen received a new island, and the master bath was relocated within the suite and outfitted with a luxurious new tub, shower, and fixtures.
