It was the right size, in the right location. This three-bedroom home, across the street from Minnehaha Creek in Edina, caught the eye of its soon-to-be owners, lifelong Edina residents looking to downsize. But the home “needed a good facelift,” says Christine Bleyhl, project director for Vujovich. “Other firms we interviewed wanted to build more than we needed,” says owner Cheryl Sheldon. “I felt comfortable and confident working with Christine Bleyhl immediately.”

The square footage was on par, so this remodel was about rearranging rooms, readdressing the home toward its creek view, and sprucing up the exterior. The master bedroom became an office, opening to a new front patio through French doors. Bedroom closets were reconfigured to create a new master bedroom. The kitchen saw a wall removed and a redesign of work areas. A sturdy mudroom replaced the screen porch, connecting to a new two-and-a-half stall garage. Adds Bleyhl, “It’s a really great example of how you can remodel a home well, while maintaining the integrity of the neighborhood.”
