Interior design trends once trailed the fashion industry by a season or longer—but no more. Today, what’s hot in ready-to-wear immediately appears in colors and fabrics for the home. This look for a bedroom suite, created by Mary Adams and Jayme Osterdyk, senior designer and designer, respectively, at Martha O’Hara Interiors in Hopkins, takes its cue from the fashion industry. “In today’s fashion world, gray is the new black and large prints are making their way onto the scene,” Adams says. “By using large prints and gray tones with bright colors that ‘pop,’ we created a striking visual that doesn’t overwhelm.” The designers used vibrant lemon yellow to balance the playful, monochrome patterns. “This design is appropriate for anyone who enjoys soft, contemporary design,” Osterdyk says. “The look is sophistication with a twist.”
