The Reggie AwardsSM , which stand for Registered Builder, were created by the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC) to recognize the outstanding achievement by member builders in the design, quality, and value of their homes. Conducted in conjunction with the Parade of Homes Fall ShowcaseSM , participating builders enter their best new Parade HomesSM in the Reggie Awards competition.
Entries were divided into association-maintained and single-family homes, then into price ranges (based on structure only), creating a total of 15 categories. Winners were selected by a panel of local building industry professionals who toured each of the homes in their category. The homes were scored using a comprehensive judging form, which covers the various aspects of design and construction and the elusive “wow” factor. Judges then met to discuss the merits of each home, ensuring that the winner is truly the most deserving.
In 2008, a total of 66 homes were judged. The 15 winners are listed below, ranked from lowest to highest price. The number preceding each builder name refers to the Parade of Homes Fall ShowcaseSM entry number.

For a new set of awards in 2008, BATC builders and remodelers of green homes were invited to enter under two categories: best green project for remodeling and for single-family homes. Entrants submitted photographs and comprehensive descriptions of their projects, including key green features in the home; their company’s green philosophy; and how they worked to raise awareness of green building techniques and materials on the job site. Judges included members of the BATC Green Committee, and Mike Williams, executive director of Minnesota GreenStar.

The People’s Choice Award was created by BATC in response to requests by member builders to have a way to judge consumers’ reactions to their Parade HomesSM . While the Reggie AwardsSM honor the homes that builders find to be the best, that does not always translate into what the general public likes most.
The People’s Choice Award evaluation consists of a short questionnaire that visitors to a participating home use to rate it compared with a hypothetical “ideal home for the price.” The questionnaire asks visitors to rate eight aspects of the home on a five-point scale, including exterior and curb appeal; layout; kitchen; bathrooms; bedrooms; and construction quality.
Each of the 34 participating Parade HomesSM received 500 postage-paid postcards that were made available to visitors. To participate as a judge, consumers simply completed the postcard and mailed it to BATC. BATC tallied the scores, weighted them slightly for return rate, and honored the top scorners within six price categories with a People’s Choice Award. The winners are listed below. The number preceding each builder name refers to the home’s Parade of Homes Fall ShowcaseSM entry number.
