At first glance, it might not have been apparent that this home, on the 12th and 13th floors of a Minneapolis condominium, was in need of a remodel. The beautiful interior was in great shape. Yet its entry left a lot to be desired in a dim, congested area muddled by several doors and a closet.
Authentic Construction worked with architect John Yust and interior designer Maureen Haggerty to solve these problems and create a foyer that swept guests inside with elegance.
“It was really trying to create a more dramatic entrance to the condo,” says Tom Oestreich, senior project manager for Authentic Construction.
The entry door itself was widened to a set of double doors, crafted from several wood species. Inside, the new foyer was updated on a grand scale—the closet was relocated in favor of an art niche. Around the corner, the landing of the upstairs staircase was redesigned to curve outward and end with a stunning newel post custom fabricated by blacksmith Robert Walsh.
The new entry more than succeeds—it’s a welcome with true wow factor.
