Cabinetry & Design Studio
This kitchen, says Creative Vision Cabinetry and Design Studio co-owner and designer Jessica Sybrant, is a good representation of the projects Creative Vision has worked on around south Minneapolis. The home was a typical early tudor style. Its closed-off galley kitchen had limited counter space and was crowded for entertaining. The owners wanted a more functional working area and a visual connection with the dining room.
Working with remodeler Chris Christianson (Creative Vision can supply cabinetry, or do the actual remodel), Sybrant designed an arched opening between the spaces, mirroring the arch between the dining room and living room.
“Opening up this wall allowed us to have a peninsula area where people could now be in the dining room but still be part of the kitchen,” Sybrant says. “It was a nice balance between a more modern floor plan and the closed-off tudor style.”
The cabinetry was replaced, but the new maple cabinetry mimics the design and materials of the original, so the character remains true to the home. Today, the new kitchen is still cozy, but far more functional with a contemporary vibe.
