Location was everything for the owners of this Edina home. It was in the same neighborhood where one of the owners had grown up; now, she would raise her children here. The home’s dark interior was typical of 1970s construction; the owners wanted a brighter, more open and more spacious interior and a new dining room.
To fulfill these desires, Roelofs Remodeling reconfigured the main level interior, brightening the old family room and making it the new dining room. What had been the kitchen became a powder room, laundry room, and butler’s pantry. The screen porch on the rear of the home—in disrepair—was replaced with a new sun-bathed family room/kitchen addition. With its Giallo Antico granite countertops and a generously sized island, the kitchen is a study of family-friendly elegance. Everywhere throughout the new space, from rich use of color to display nooks for family heirlooms, the personalization of this remodel is obvious.
“It feels exactly the way they wanted it to,” says Jerry Roelofs, president of Roelofs Remodeling and Renovation. “It’s really homey.”
