Inspiration for your wish list

The holidays are here; the beginning of a new year is soon to follow. By the time this issue hits reaches your hands, you should be ready to enjoy “home for the holidays” and the space you have created for family and friends. (Your shopping is already done…right?)
It’s a great time of year to appreciate what we have and, of course, muse over our wish lists—including the wishes we have for our homes. This issue of Midwest Home includes our biannual Consumer’s Guide to Remodeling. With amazing remodeling stories and before-and-after photos, it just might help inspire your dreams. Speaking of dreams, we have named the two lucky winners of our Midwest Home Fall Home & Garden Show drawing in this issue’s recap of the show. When the winners came to our office to have their photos taken, they shared some of their aspirations for their homes. As the recipients of $15,000 and $10,000 prizes to be spent with any of the show’s vendors, they will soon be well on their way to having their goals realized.
I found inspiration of my own after attending the Builders Association of the Twin Cities (BATC) Awards of Excellence Banquet in October. More than 300 members were there, and it was heartening to see people who have had a tough year in the housing market come together for an evening of camaraderie and well-deserved recognition of homes and products on the spring and fall Parade of Homes put on by BATC. This is the kind of spirit that will pull us through the challenges we have faced this year.
I hope you and your family have a warm and blessed holiday season.
