Parade Spotlight:
Swanson Homes is known for detail that is both intricate and comprehensive. This Luxury Home Tour home is no exception, with consistent patterns and color themes tracing through its rooms.
Blend the rich character of antiquity with the shine of modern convenience, and you have a stunning home. Give it all the right touches of livability, and you have a masterpiece.
“So many of our customers like the older, traditional elements—and yet they don’t want to feel like it’s old,” says Swanson Homes President Curt Swanson of this magnificent Eden Prairie home, a 2007 Luxury Home Tour participant that masterfully blends old and new with recurring themes and patterns.
From the moment you step inside, the home makes an impression. Standing in the foyer, you look through to the great room and its double barrel vault ceiling. Its arches mirror the curve of windows, overlooking the lush landscape beyond. The main level of this 4,600-square-foot home includes a library, formal dining room, the aforementioned great room, kitchen with breakfast area, and screen porch.

The kitchen exudes elegance and a vision of careful planning. No detail was spared. Light tones are predominant, but the dark cabinetry, finished with a distressed look, gives the space contrast. Limestone flooring stretches through the kitchen to the foyer, dining room, breakfast area, and rear entry. Marble mosaic tile borders reflect the shape of unique ceiling treatments. The kitchen includes state-of-the-art Sub-Zero appliances. The vegetable sink even has a built-in steamer.
The home’s generously sized porch boasts a stone-faced gas fireplace under a vaulted tongue-and-groove cedar ceiling. Tucked behind the garage, the porch takes maximum advantage of the long views across the backyard without blocking sightlines elsewhere in the home.
Upstairs, the spacious master suite pampers the owners under another barrel vault ceiling with crosshatched moldings. The master bath includes a large marble-and-granite shower with body sprays, marble-and-granite flooring with in-floor heat, and vanities that reflect the distressed enamel found in the kitchen. “We try to repeat certain elements throughout, so that you have an interior design consistency,” Swanson says.
Rounding out the upstairs are a Jack-and-Jill bedroom and bath, and oversized laundry room and a sizeable bonus room with private bath that could be an activity room, study area, or nanny suite.
“It really flows so well,” Swanson says. “Each space is ample. It’s not oversized; it’s certainly not undersized. It feels comfortable…the livability is definitely there.”
