How did you get here?
SKD started in 1977 as a mostly commercial/governmental architectural firm. As the early years passed, Steve Kleineman diversified the firm’s services to include the residential market, thereby capturing a more complete picture of his interest and talents. For over 30 years, SKD Architects has reshaped the residential and commercial landscape of the Twin Cities and beyond.

What is your philosophy?
SKD provides architectural solutions that are creative and artistic. Every aspect of design must have good reason behind it as well as be conscious of aesthetics, function, and the environment. “Green” is not a trend—it’s part of our daily philosophy.

You may not know…
How good we are. How thought-provoking we can be. How successful we are as problem solvers while also understanding aesthetics and functionality. Sure, architects can take an element and design it so it looks “cool,” but we do a better job of making it look cool and making it work. We’ve got “Wow Factor” figured out...and we know how to employ it.
