What are some of the best innovations or new products you’ve seen in this market?
Many people already depend on their tablets and mobile devices for communication and entertainment. We can now easily utilize these same devices to manage and monitor lights, thermostats, security systems, motorized shades, and audio/video systems, even while away from home.
How do you merge technology and design in a project?
We work hard to show value very early on in a project. This gives us the opportunity to seamlessly work closely with everyone involved, every step of the way. We are proud to work with some of the finest builders, remodelers, architects, and designers in the Twin Cities.
What, in your opinion, is a must-have feature for homeowners today?
Lighting control. It really does show off your home and other benefits include energy savings, convenience, safety, and security. It’s affordable too.

What are some of the best innovations or new products you’ve seen in this market?
The iPad has taken over our world. It seems like just about everything we do in the tech field now has an “app.” The computer and audio world has also finally merged. Discs have been replaced by downloading (streaming) movies directly to the TV or DVD player.
What is the ROI for technology in the home, either now or at resale?
Making a house user-friendly is key. We have the ability to provide wireless coverage, making it easier to move from room to room with the simple touch of a device. Having a robust network today is as important as phone jacks were 10 years ago.
With technology constantly changing, how does your business adapt?
We hire people that have a tech background rather than an audio background. We investigate all new technology to figure out what’s easy to use, determine the road map going forward, then train, train, and train our staff!
How do you merge technology and design in a project?
This is a huge part of what we do. We use TV lifts, mirrors, and art to conceal products when not in use, and whenever possible, we like to hide the big “black box” gear in the mechanical room.
What, in your opinion, is a must-have feature for homeowners today?
A Sonos player. It is, by far, the best and easiest way to streamline music (or shows, or podcasts) to a compact single-speaker audio system.

When you select a technology company, make sure that they’ve been around for awhile. You might pay a little more for a company with experience, but there’s peace of mind in knowing they’ll still be in business if you ever need anything.
