North Oaks’ Natural Oasis by TJB Homes, Inc.

This home in the private Rapp Farm neighborhood of North Oaks is situated to take full advantage of the wooded conservation area that lies behind it. But it’s hard to say which views are more beautiful—those looking outside or the ones within.

Builder Tom Budzynski of TJB Homes, Inc. created an open floor plan that lets Mother Nature play a starring role in the overall look and feel of the 5,235-square-foot home. From the bright and airy kitchen and expansive great room to the kick-your-shoes-off three-season porch, it’s impossible to walk through the house without taking in what’s going on outside.

The soothing master suite, which features a contemporary bed-and-breakfast fireplace and a rounded reading nook, feels like a lavish tree-house hideaway with its almost floor-to-ceiling windows. The adjoining bath is a mix of glass, tile, and wood that plays to the natural elements outdoors.

On the lower level, Budzynski created a virtual playground for kids and adults alike with dual bars, a sauna, and an exercise room. This entertainment haven features multiple flat-screen TVs, a stylish dartboard, and a custom wine cellar to accommodate a variety of tastes and interests. The floor of the wine cellar was crafted from the wood of wine casks, the markings of which can still be read.

With 35 years of design-build experience, Budzynski says he knows what homeowners want, and this home is a culmination of what he has learned over the years. “They want that ‘wow’ feeling,” he says.

“The inspiration for this house was definitely the view,” he says. “We made full use of the site and views out the back,” he says. “As you walk in the front door, the whole backyard opens up.”
