It's Good to be Home

It's Good to be Home

During the long cold snap we had to endure in January, my husband and I were fortunate enough to be able to get away for a few days. We walked the beautiful beaches and explored the small towns surrounding Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. What a pleasure—especially knowing that we were missing subzero weather at home.

Returning to Minnesota, trying not to acknowledge the blast of cold air as we exited the plane, it sure was a good feeling to be home—comfortable, cozy, and familiar.

As we spend our time in our coveted cocoons, we sometimes notice things we would like to change. Often it’s our kitchens, our baths, or perhaps even adding a room…or an entire level. What a perfect time, while we are nesting, to begin making those plans—from starting the design with an architect to selecting a remodeler to implement that vision.

This month, Midwest Home magazine will assist you with making some of these very important decisions, with features about why you should use an architect and how to choose the best one for you. We also have partnered with the Builders and Remodelors Association of the Twin Cities to preview the newest addition to its lineup of consumer events, the Spring Remodelors ShowcaseSM. This tour will allow you to see, touch, and feel the quality of actual remodeling projects while you are gathering ideas for your dream of changing or adding to your home.

We all love to get away from our cocoons, but it feels just as good to return home.
