Where can you find more than 300 GE appliances, displayed in full kitchens, with an expert staff to help design your ideas into three dimensions? At the GE Builder Appliance Center—the only showroom owned and operated by GE in the world. Fortunately, you won’t have to travel far to visit: The showroom is conveniently located near I-494 and Hwy. 62 in Minnetonka.

“We feature real, true-to-scale kitchens that are fully decorated and operational,” says Stephanie Pfeiffer, sales and marketing manager for GE Appliances. “It’s a first-class showroom.”

Here, GE-branded appliances are installed among proportioned true kitchens, so homeowners get a feel for the space and how the appliances complement cabinetry and surfaces. That makes it easier to envision what a final project will look like, Pfeiffer explains. “It’s a great place to come see a whole lot of things...people just love that they can see how the different wood species work with different colors and finishes in appliances and flooring,” she says.

GE, Monogram, and Profile product lines are featured. Nothing is overlooked here, between ranges, microwaves and built-in cooktops, refrigerators, wine bars, dishwashers, washers, and dryers. You’ll also find plenty of speed cooking products and a demo kitchen where you can see how an entire speed-cook dinner can be made in a new speed cook oven. Another kitchen reflects universal design, a “lifestyle kitchen” for aging in place. There’s something for all buyers and budgets—and the showroom is the first place to see GE’s newest products.

GE’s sales consultants can bring you up to speed on the latest innovations in appliances. These non-commissioned consultants are trained specifically to know GE product lines inside and out. And they have direct access to GE’s engineers and product managers, should any questions about unique installation situations arise. “When coming to a showroom, you have the option of seeing all of the products together, and then you have a professional who’s making sure that technically, it can work,” Pfeiffer says.

GE Builder Appliance Center can help homeowners plan and design a whole room around GE appliances, based on needs and lifestyle. “It’s a consultative approach to the project, including kitchen, entertainment space, and laundry area,” Pfeiffer says, adding that purchases must be made through a builder, remodeler or designer.

The homeowner then works with the contractor for the actual implementation of the design. GE Builder Appliance Center takes care of delivery and offers installation where applicable by code. “We’re highly trained on Minnesota codes and special installation issues,” Pfeiffer says.

While anyone is welcome to browse the selection at GE Builder Appliance Center, consultation appointments should be made in advance. The showroom is open weekdays and every other Saturday; check the GE Builder Appliance Center website for schedule details.

The no-pressure, consultative sales environment makes visiting GE Builder Appliance Center a pleasant experience, Pfeiffer says. And the expertise you’ll find here makes it a smart stop.

“This is our blood; we do this all day, every day,” she says. “We know GE appliances.”
