When you enter the new Michael Lee Remodeling showroom, you’re greeted by a duo of leather chairs in front of a big stone fireplace. This cozy spot sets the tone for the showroom, the only one of its kind in the metro area. In fact, you might forget where you are, because the showroom mimics the interior of a home.

Michael Lee Remodeling President David Frosch explains the concept: Builders have model homes to demonstrate their work, he says, but showing examples of past remodeling jobs usually means intruding into a private residence.

“We decided: Why don’t we just build our own showroom?” Frosch says. “And that’s what we did here.”

The showroom is not a series of vignettes—rather, it is full rooms. Beyond the stone fireplace is a family room area with a wall of custom shelving and a plasma TV. An adjacent library has a French door entry, custom cherry built-ins, cherry ceiling beams, and walnut flooring. Beyond the library is Michael Lee’s kitchen design center. Accordingly, this space has a full kitchen and an hutch with LCD TV. Many species of wood are displayed here, including cherry, knotty alder, and oak. The kitchen countertops are Silestone.

Other rooms include a wine cellar, a mudroom area with built-in cubbies, and a bathroom. Four sliding panel walls show “every kind of door style you can imagine,” Frosch says. And another room displays all selections available for a home in somewhat more traditional showroom style.

“Everybody says they can do the same work, but where can you see it?” Frosch says. “That’s what we have here—an example of what
we do.”

And added bonus: All of the furnishings in the showroom come from KML Design Studio—a partner of Michael Lee Remodeling—located next door.

“We can take you next door and show you where to get the furniture to fill the space,’ Frosch says.

Frosch, who has been in building since 1983, has a background in design. Michael Lee Remodeling’s decorators, designers, and remodeling salespeople have “years and years of experience” between them, Frosch adds. And though the quality of craftsmanship and extensive experience are key components of Michael Lee Remodeling, the firm’s specialty is its
customer service.

“We take care of people,” Frosch says. “That just isn’t said much anymore. We take care of people through the process. Remodeling can be a very painstaking venture; we’re in their house working while they’re living in there, so we have to be very conscious.”

Appointments are recommended for a visit to the showroom, so one of the showroom’s staff can give homeowners a tour of what’s possible with Michael Lee Remodeling.

“We can show them the showroom and what we can do,” Frosch says. “Then we set up a time to come out to their house and show them what we can do for them.”
