Truly transitional luxury

Design insight

Designed to be broadly appealing, this home blends classic and modern elements for truly transitional luxury. Whitewashed wide-plank black walnut flooring and enameled cabinetry match the exterior’s traditional flavor. Yet contemporary touches such as light fixtures offer balance. “Depending on how you furnished it, it could go a little more contemporary or even more traditional,” says Curt Swanson, president of Swanson Homes.

Swank shelter

Kitchen highlights are a custom ceiling treatment reflecting the island, a 10-foot stainless steel hood, and sliding granite slap spice wall. Mid-century mosaic tiles, green frosted glass, and a free-standing soaking tub make the master bath beautiful. The lower level is luxurious with a granite bar with leather finish, backlit ceilings, and a dance floor beneath a disco ball.

A place to call home

One of Curt Swanson’s favorite features is a sitting area adjacent to the kitchen—a miniature family room inviting the family to gather for conversation while mom or dad is preparing dinner. With parks and trails, the Seven Greens neighborhood is great for families, too—and it’s located in the Wayzata School District in Plymouth, named this year as one of the best places in the nation to live.
